Vercheak Talks Hoosiers Junior Day

Junior offensive lineman Grant Vercheak talks about his recent visit to Indiana for the Hoosiers Junior Day.

Last weekend Independence (Ky.) Simon Kenton High School offensive lineman Grant Vercheak visited Indiana for the Hoosiers Junior Day. How was the 6-foot-5, 250-pound junior prospects experience?

"It was really fun," said Vercheak. "It was a great experience for being the first time there. Everything was fun from not only a football aspect, but also the educational aspects of what Indiana offers.

"It was real eye opening how great the educational program is there."

What does Vercheak remember most about his visit?

"I really remember how much support they have for their student athletes with the tutoring and all the extra help you can get," he said. "I also remember all the little things they did to make you feel at home.

"The weight room is awesome as it's massive with all that equipment they have. They also give their players help individually to help them get bigger and stronger. The coaches were all real nice and good people. All of them were real nice to me and welcoming and tried to make us feel like family."

One of the coaches that really impressed Vercheak was Hoosiers offensive line coach Greg Frey.

"Coach Frey is great," explained Vercheak. "He's a great coach as he's been a player and now a coach. He knows how we feel as players and is able to transfer that into his coaching methods."
