Blue Goes Scarlet

Raleigh (N.C.) Millbrook defensive end Sam Blue committed to Rutgers at the end of an official visit.

A week after committing to Georgetown, Raleigh (N.C.) Millbrook defensive end Sam Blue made an official visit to Rutgers and committed after being offered a scholarship at the end of his visit, according to his coach.

Blue, who has a 3.7 grade point average, is 6-foot-3, 225 pounds.

"He's an excellent player," Millbrook coach Clarence Inscore said. "He was our leader on defense and the conference defensive player of the year. He has a combination of excellent size and excellent speed."

Blue was a late addition for Rutgers after the hiring of offensive line coach Mitch Browning, who recruited Blue to Davidson. Initially, Blue was not going to visit Rutgers, but he made the trip for the weekend.

"He felt like Rutgers was the best fit for him," Inscore said. "He's capable of playing at a high level, and with Rutgers moving to the Big Ten, that was a big part of it."
