Utah Lands 2015 Junior College Athlete

LA Harbor athlete Cory Butler gives Utah a new commit in the 2015 class

The 2014 class has been signed and sealed. Now 2015 is well underway with Utah picking up a commitment from junior college athlete Cory Butler out of LA Harbor College in Los Angeles.

"I'm excited to be a Ute. The coaching staff is great. I love them. Coach (Pablo) Cano and Coach Shah are the reason I'm coming to Utah. Loyalty is an important thing to me and they've been very loyal and held up their word on everything."

Butler has visited Salt Lake City before, but never been on campus at Utah. He has a trip pending in April and is excited to see the academic and athletic facilities.

"Utah has a great criminal justice program and that's important to me. I haven't made a trip out their yet, but I have been looking at them online and will be coming out for the spring game."

Utah offered Butler at the end of December and he picked them over another offer from Oregon State.

"I've had a lot of schools in contact like Auburn, Arizona, and Kansas State, but Utah is the best school for me."

Butler wasn't recruited much out of high school after moving around a couple of times, putting his academic situation in peril.

"The moves threw off my academics, so schools couldn't really recruit me. I've got everythgni straightened out though and I'll be graduating in December."

The 5-11, 175 pound receiver will be on campus for spring ball in 2015, and will get looks at multiple spots.

"I'll probably play receiver, but may corner. I'm also going to be on special teams returning kicks and punts."
