"A few weeks ago Coach Seider and Cogdell came by the school to see (West Virginia commit) Jovon Durante," McGee said. They spoke with me and hit me up on Facebook. So I called them and they told me I had had an official offer. West Virginia has been looking at me since my sophomore year, though."
"West Virginia is such a great program, and I think it could be a good fit," McGee explained. "My teammate Jovon Durante is committed up there. I'd love to go up there and play with him."
Could his bond with Durante be an advantage for the Mountaineers?
"I'd love to play with him, I know that," he said. "He's always talking about wanting me to come join the family. I would always tell him they never offered me. But now I have the offer so I need to tell him. I know he'll be excited."
McGee, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound three-star safety, admits he doesn't doesn't know much about the Mountaineers, but is hopeful to learn more.
"I don't really know too much about them," McGee explained. "I know they're in the Big 12 Conference and since I'm a defensive back and schools pass a lot it could be a good fit for me."
"No, I don't have any favorites. All schools are equal. I'll eventually have to narrow schools down but I'm not sure when that will be."
This summer, McGee is hoping to squeeze in a few unofficial visits, one to his latest offering school.
"I will be coming to West Virginia on an unofficial visit," McGee said. "I'm also hoping to visit Louisville, Clemson and South Carolina. I'll be going to some camps down here in Florida, so hope to get all my visits in."
