Cen-Tex LB Has Offer
As a few more weeks have gone by since Texas State's first junior day, our staff is learning more and more of some prospects who are now targets. You can now count Jaylen Waters, a LB from Copperas Cove HS, as one. The 6'1" 230lb linebacker picked up his first offer from the Bobcats when he visited San Marcos two weekends ago. "I went to Texas State's junior day and was offered. It's my first offer," said Waters. Along with the Bobcats, Baylor has been keeping close tabs on him and he's eying potential visits to Waco and more to San Marcos. "I still don't know what schools I'm going to visit. I really don't know what I'm going to be doing through the spring. I'm going to go to a few spring practices, Baylor, Texas State and any other schools that seem interested," said Waters. The Bobcats have offered Waters at LB. He possesses a run stuffing, physical frame and is deceptively quick. Just last week in workouts he clocked a 4.58 40 yard dash. Coach Fran and his staff have made a nice first impression. Not only are the 'Cats the first to offer, but getting Waters on campus really opened his eyes to what Texas State has to offer. "I liked it, it's definitely an opportunity. It's a school I'd definitely go to, but wanna my weigh options. Take the best opportunity for me," said Waters. Justin isn't all brawn either, he's got plenty of brain too. In the classroom he's ahead and if he wanted he could graduate early next December. It's this mindset that has him looking for great academics where he can get a degree and be a part of a good athletic program. At the same junior day, the Bobcats also offered his teammate Tyrell Thompson (DE). Both kids have said it would be nice to either attend the same school or play against each other. They're all about each other being successful and playing college football wherever they can. Waters is a 1st Team All District 8-5A and all area selection.
