"I just got those offers from Mississippi State, Southern Miss and South (Alabama) in the past few days.
Smith has a tie to Ole Miss through his brother Rashawn Smith, a freshman linebacker on the Rebel defense.
"He has told me all about it," said Smith of his brother. "I went over there just about every weekend during the season, so I have seen a lot of what they have to offer.
"I like the school a lot."
So far, the Rebels have not offered a scholarship, but the Bulldogs of Mississippi State have.
Smith reports that the situation between the in state rivals could make things rather interesting in the Smith household around Thanksgiving.
"That might happen," said Smith with a laugh. "I would love to be able to compete against my brother.
"We have grown up competing against each other, so it wouldn't be that different.
"I am sure we would make some silly bet before the game and then go play hard against each other."
The talented linebacker reports that he is in no hurry to make a decision, but he does not plan to drag the process out.
"I would really like to decide right before the season or around the middle of the season," said Smith. "I am just looking to see how the coaches all treat the recruits and the players that they already have on campus.
"I want to see how the atmosphere is when I visit and just see how I feel if I feel at home.
"I am just going to take my time and make my decision when I am ready."
Smith has attended Junior day at Tennessee and plans to attend Alabama's junior day in March.
A family obligation is preventing him from attending Mississippi State's junior day this weekend.
