Lawrenceville (N.J) Prep's Grant Newsome is among the most highly-sought after offensive linemen in the country and he has the scholarships to prove it.

The 6-foot-6, 280-pound prospect has received 23 scholarship offers to date, reaching from coast to coast. Cal, Duke, Louisville, Michigan, Ohio State, Rutgers, South Carolina, Stanford, Syracuse, UCLA and Wake Forest are just some of the schools that have extended an offer to the four-star target.

"I was really happy when I received that," he said of his Louisville offer. "I know they have been pretty good the last couple years and should be pretty good this upcoming year. They have a lot to offer, so I was happy when I received it."

Newsome plans a busy spring and summer, tripping to as many of the programs that have offered as possible, with the hope of making his college choice before the start of his senior year.

"I am going to make some visits during the spring and summer and then try to figure out my decision this summer," he told Cardinal Authority. "I want to be able to focus on school and my senior season, so I'd like to make my decision by then."

Northwestern, Duke, Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State are already on the docket for future visits. Many others that he views fit his criteria will also be visited during the coming months.

As for Louisville, "they do" match what Newsome is searching a will likely receive a visit this summer.

"I'm looking for the right school for me," he continued. "If it is the right school distance won't matter. I'm looking for a school where I will have good relationships with the coaches, a program where I can football and wins games. I'd like to play for championships. Not only conference championships, but for the national championship.

Academics are also important. I want to be sure that even if the winning doesn't pan out, that I will have a solid foundation to stand on when football is over."

Newsome's size, athleticism an ability to be both an effective pass blocker and an impressive run blocker has made him a prime target.

"Newsome is athletic, strong in pass protection and can get to the second level quickly in the running game," said recruiting analyst Brian Dohn. "He is good drive blocking and does a nice job in pass protection. He has good length and is able to protect the edge, but does need to refine his technique. Newsome also gets to the second level quickly."
