Wright Gaining Interest

Pearl RB Jordan Wright recently picked up a new offer from Southern Miss, and he took a few minutes to talk about it with GoldenEaglePride.com. Find out the latest here with the talented in-state prospect.

Jordan Wright is a running back from Pearl who is really coming on strong and making a name for himself with the major in-state schools.

Right now, he's doing everything he can to improve his standing and grow as a running back.

"I'm running track just for the purpose of trying to improve my speed, so that's the major thing I'm working on," he told GoldenEaglePride.com today.

"I really want to improve my break away speed. That is the biggest thing as a running back that I need to improve on so that's where I've been focused."

Wright also has taken in a Nike Combine this past weekend where he said he had a good showing.

"It wasn't my best, but I felt like I did a good job," he said. "My 40 was at 4.6 and I want to get that down. Also I need to improve my shuttle."

The talented RB recently picked up an offer from Southern Miss to go with one he already held from Memphis.

"They came by school and pulled me out to talk to me," he said. "I was happy to hear that they wanted to offer me.

"They talked about how things are going and what they are building there. They talked about how Evan Osborne and D.J. Thompson are going to be doing next season and how they are growing as players.

"I keep up with them through those guys. I honestly don't know a whole lot about the program because I haven't visited, but I'm going to junior day and I'll learn a lot more while there. I'm looking forward to that."

Wright said he's also talking with coaches at Ole Miss and Mississippi State, but has not received an offer yet from either.

"They are both telling me they'll be watching me closely and they will be watching my season this year."
