Womack Breaks Through

Matt Womack is one of the most well traveled prospects in the state of Mississippi. With several SEC unofficial visits to his credit, the Magnolia Heights standout has marketed himself as well as anyone in the state of Mississippi. Womack's hard work has begun to pay off in the form of college scholarship offers. With three offers in hand, Womack may be on the verge of an offer avalanche.

Earlier today, Womack picked up an offer from Arkansas State. Less than 24 hours earlier, Womack received an opportunity from UAB.

"I called and talked to Coach Jody Wright at UAB," said Womack of how he learned of the offer from the Blazers. "He had offered me when he was at Jacksonville State and he just kept recruiting me when he got to UAB.

"It feels great to get that D1 offer now.

"I think I might end up getting offers from Mississippi State, Georgia State and Southern Miss and South Carolina might when I visit up there on the 29th.

"There are a few schools talking about offering me now and it feels good to see things starting to happen."

Womack plans to take trips to UAB and South Carolina on back to back days later this month.

The talented offensive lineman reports that he is regular contact with about thirty programs including home state rivals Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

"Getting an offer from (Mississippi) State or Ole Miss would be big for me, because they are in Mississippi," said Womack. "State is always in contact with me.

"Coach (John) Hevesy told me not worry about anything, because they are going to end up offering me."

Womack reports a strong interest in LSU and a desire to earn an offer from the Tigers.

Playing in the SEC is a common dream for Mississippi prospects and Womack is no different.

He reports that an offer from LSU, Mississippi State or Ole Miss would be a serious development in his recruitment.

In addition to his SEC suitors, it appears that one of the ACC's newest programs may be ready to step forward with an offer of their own.

"Louisville told me that they really like my film," said Womack. "Coach K (Chris Klenakis) told me that he wants me to come up there and visit, so they can see me and make their offer in person."

Womack currently lists no favorites and is content to let the recruiting process play out a little longer to be sure of his options before making a decision.
