2016 cornerback C.J. Morgan of Class 5A state runner-up Parkway tacked on two West Coast offers recently and a third from the Pac-12 could be just around the corner...

  • C.J. Morgan doubled his number of offers to four by adding San Diego State and UCLA. San Diego State, which signed Brandon Porter from John Curtis Christian in 2013, almost landed a commitment from Louisiana DB Jerrell Jackson (Haynesville) this year. Jackson flipped to Hawaii late in the process. Morgan is being recruited by Tony White, who was responsible for signing Porter. California could be next to offer Morgan. Mississippi State and the Cajuns were the first two offers for the sophomore.

  • Louisiana Tech continues to cash in on a big junior day weekend. The Bulldogs have reeled in four in-state commitments to go along with a pledge from a Texas linebacker (Brandon Durman) since Saturday. Scout's Gabe Brooks broke the news on Durman's decision. Hahnville's Fred Brown (DT) and Dwaine Thomas (ATH) were first to pull the trigger, followed by Shreveport prospects LaDante Davenport (Northwood defensive tackle) and Aaron Roberson (Huntington DB).

  • LSU three-star defensive end commit Isaiah Washington reported via text Sunday that he was planning to re-open his recruitment. When contacted Monday, he clarified things somewhat by informing Scout that he's still committed to the Tigers but is listening to other offers. Washington added that he'll be at the Tigers' Saturday practice. He added a Florida offer last week.

  • Central wide receiver Terrell Chatman reportedly needs to improve his academic standing in order to haul in the maximum amount of offers. Several schools are highly interested in the junior, including UCLA. Wake Forest offered last week. Chatman won WR MVP at the CORE6 Showcase last month. He'll get the chance to add more hardware this weekend at the NUC 5-Star set for Sunday afternoon at Denham Springs.

  • John Ehret outside linebacker Michael Divinity (2016) picked up a Southern Miss offer. Oklahoma State was his first. Ole Miss reportedly has offered, as well.

  • East Jefferson three-star cornerback Deshawn Raymond reported a Southern Miss offer. TCU offered Raymond earlier this month. He was the CORE6 defensive back MVP.

  • Joe Anderson, the state's top linebacker, reported five offers yesterday: Florida, Ole Miss, Tulane, Tennessee and South Carolina. The three-star from Riverside Academy attended junior day at Mississippi State and says Florida State is showing new interest.

  • Wake Forest could be the next offer for Archbishop Rummel defensive end Tyrell Jacobs, who currently lists offers from Tennessee, Mississippi State and the Cajuns. Jacobs is also hearing regularly from Oklahoma State.

  • Southern Miss also offered Many three-star offensive tackle Garrett Thomas, who is up to 15 on his offer sheet. Ole Miss is a new name to watch here. Thomas says Auburn and Oklahoma State continue to recruit him the hardest.

  • Alabama and Arkansas offered three-star running back Kirk Merritt from Destrehan. Merritt continues to hold the nation's top SPARQ Rating with a 138.84. That's well ahead of DeUnte Chatman (130.44) and Josh Sweat (128.31). LSU 2017 RB/LB commit Dylan Moses has the No. 6 score (120.81), while 2016 DB Shyheim Carter of Kentwood is also in the Top 20 nationwide.

  • Three-star defensive end Reggie Walker could be on "commitment watch" when he visits Mississippi State March 22. He'll be accompanied by older brother Robert, who played his college ball in Starkville. The Bulldogs haven't offered Reggie yet.

  • Georgia Tech is the latest offer for Parkway three-star defensive tackle Kameron Eloph. More details on Eloph coming in a separate feature article.

  • South Florida expert Corey Bender says the Bulls offered East Saint John three-star defensive back Antonio Parks. Duke and Iowa State also offered Parks earlier this month.

  • Many head coach Jess Curtis reported yesterday that the Cajuns offered his quarterback, Xavier Dias. The Cajuns could be looking at Dias for multiple positions: QB, WR and/or DB.

  • Airline DT Charlie Matthews and Dutchtown DB Justin Reid reported offers from TCU.

  • Look for Cedar Creek 2016 running back Donald Jenkins to make a big splash at the National Underclassmen Combine set for April 1 at Westgate HS in New Iberia. Jenkins paced the Cougars to the Division IV semifinals last year.

  • Prospect on the verge of blowing up: 2016 defensive back Malik Antoine (University Lab)

  • Best juniors without an offer (randon order): athlete William McKnight (Parkway), wide receiver Hunter Register (Comeaux), tight end Michael Dunman (Byrd).
