Freeman's stock is rising

Last fall, C.J. Freeman had a tremendous sophomore season. Now, the Greensboro (N.C.) Northern Guilford running back is already attracting interest from schools around the region.

"Right now, Virginia Tech is my only offer and they're still sending a lot of mail," said C.J. Freeman. "But I've also been receiving a lot of mail and emails from other schools.

"The schools I hear from most consistently are UNC, Georgia, FSU, Duke and N.C. State. UNC has showed a lot of interest in me and I think they could offer soon"

Earlier this month, he visited an in-state school.

"My most recent visit was actually to UNC for their junior day about three weeks ago," said the 5-foot-11, 180-pound Freeman. "It's a great school. And I have a lot of teammates and people that I know that go there. It's a great place to be. I also like that the coaching staff is young and aggressive.

"My favorite part about being there was probably the atmosphere because I know so many people. It just feels like home."

While in Chapel Hill, he had a chance to talk to head coach Larry Fedora.

"He told me he's real interested in me, and that I'm one of the top 2016 prospects he likes so far," Freeman said.

"He also talked to me about their upcoming season and said he wants me to be at the spring game. So, I'm probably going to go to that and their spring practice at (Greensboro) Grimsley."

Other possible upcoming visits for Freeman include Virginia Tech and Georgia.

Freeman is also looking forward to the summer.

"It's going to be a pretty busy summer," he said. "I'm probably going to camp at FSU, Georgia and possibility Carolina."

Last season, Freeman finished with 1,653 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns and 150 yards receiving and two touchdown catches.
