Notre Dame had a big impact in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex during the past week, picking up a pair of offers in the 2015 class.
The first came Thursday, when Dallas South Oak Cliff safety Prentice McKinney pledged to the Irish. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound headhunter chose Notre Dame over more than a dozen other offers, including Arkansas, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, TCU, and Texas A&M, which offered McKinney a day before he pledged to the Irish, who he plans to visit for the first time April 12, according to Scout.com's Anna Hickey.
Allen 2015 receiver Jalen Guyton followed Sunday afternoon with his Notre Dame commitment. Guyton visited South Bend a couple of weeks ago during spring break and came away very impressed. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound deep threat chose the Irish over a dozen other offers, including Baylor, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Stanford, TCU, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech, among others.
Almost 20 other prospects received offers this past week, including six who received two or more. Here's a recap:
Richard Moore, 2015 LB, Cedar Hill -- The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder got offered by TCU on Monday, then picked up offers from Texas A&M on Friday and UTSA on Saturday to push his offer list beyond a dozen. Moore got his Aggie offer at the "Friday Night Lights" event in College Station.
Anthony Hines, 2017 LB, Plano East -- an early Mississippi State commit, the talented Hines was offered by Houston on Monday, then got a Louisville offer Thursday. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound freshman now has an offer list in the mid-teens.
Sam Tecklenburg, 2015 OG, Plano -- the 6-foot-4, 260-pound Tecklenburg is projected as an offensive guard at the next level, but that didn't stop UTSA from offering him as a defensive tackle this past Tuesday. Tecklenburg is approaching double-digit offers.
J.F. Thomas, 2015 WR, Dallas South Oak Cliff -- one of DFW's two North Texas offers in the past week went to Thomas, who got the offer Tuesday. Thomas now has offers from the Mean Green, Arkansas State, Colorado State, Maryland, and SMU.
DeAndre McNeal, 2015 ATH, Mesquite Poteet -- North Texas offered Wednesday and Kansas offered Thursday to give the 6-foot-2, 205-pound McNeal seven offers, which include TCU and Texas Tech, among others. McNeal has been recruited at multiple positions, but projects best as a big-bodied receiver.
James Proche, 2015 WR, Dallas Prime Prep -- Proche was 1 of 6 players in the Metroplex to pick up a Houston offer this past week. His offer came Thursday to give him five offers so far: the Cougars, Colorado State, SMU, TCU, and Tulsa.
Madison Akamnonu, 2015 OT, Arlington Bowie -- the 6-foot-5, 270-pound Akamnonu has seen his offer list grow to almost double digits in recent week. Houston offered Thursday to give him eight, which include Kansas State and Texas Tech, among others.
Landis Durham, 2015 LB, Plano East -- a trip to Texas A&M's "Friday Night Lights" event yielded an offer for Durham, who then received an Arizona State offer Saturday to push his list to almost a dozen.
Bo Schneider, 2015 QB, Dallas Jesuit -- the 6-foot-4, 217-pound Schneider has seen his interest pick up significantly lately. He got offered by Houston on Saturday to give him three offers (Tulsa, Southern Miss) in the last two weeks.
Bailey Phillips, 2016 CB, West Mesquite -- the young cornerback is off to a fast start in the recruiting process. Houston offered the 5-foot-8, 165-pound Phillips on Sunday to join Louisiana Tech, UCLA, Washington State, and Utah on his offer list.
Josh Butler, 2015 CB, West Mesquite -- the offers continue to roll in for the 5-foot-10, 163-pound Butler, who rounded out the Houston offers Sunday. Butler now owns a list that numbers well into the teens and includes Baylor, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and UCLA, among others.
