Barnes Nearing Another Offer?

Pittsburg (KS) running back Alex Barnes holds an offer from the Jayhawks and is high on their program. Another in-state school could be close to offering as well.

Pittsburg (KS) running back Alex Barnes has already hit the recruiting trail. He holds one offer but that hasn't slowed his work ethic. He's still working on pushing forward and enhancing his game.

"I've really been focusing on my breakaway speed, primarily," he told Scout. "I'm happy with my speed now but I want to take it to the next level."

The Jayhawks are Barnes' only offer but it's one he's fond of and he had great things to say about the Kansas program.

"Things have been going really well with them," Barnes said of the Jayhawks. "We stay in regular contact and I enjoy speaking with their coaches."

"I've really liked the personal atmosphere they have there in Lawrence," he added. "I also like their perspective on rebuilding a program. I believe in what they are trying to do. I'll be going to their Spring Game this Saturday."

Other programs are also in the mix for Barnes and a few could be close to pulling the trigger on a scholarship for the junior standout.

"I've been hearing from Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, and Wyoming," Barnes noted. "I know Kansas State is really close to offering. It's starting to heat up with Arkansas as well."

An offer from the in-state Wildcats would mean a lot to Barnes.

"I really like the discipline and perseverance Kansas State preaches," he mentioned. "It's a great program with great coaches. I'd be honored to have an offer from them."
