Busy spring for Garrett Hooker

Garrett Hooker had a huge sophomore season. Since that time, the 2016 Thomasville (N.C.) Ledford middle linebacker has been attracting interest from multiple college coaching staffs.

This spring will be a busy time for Garrett Hooker.

"I'm going to Wake Forest this weekend, and Clemson and Georgia in the next few weeks," said the 6-foot-2, 235-pound Hooker. "I'm also going to Tennessee in about three weeks.

"All those schools are sending me mail, as well as N.C. State, Duke and Florida State. I think N.C. State will be the first school to offer."

Although he has no favorites, Hooker admitted one school is has impressed him early.

"Tennessee because they have Butch Jones and I know he's going to build that program back up," Hooker said. "I'm looking forward to seeing the atmosphere there and the players and coaches."

Hooker also has his summer mapped out.

"I'm camping at Clemson, Georgia, Tennessee, N.C. State and Duke," he said.

Despite a huge junior season, Hooker is working hard to become a better player.

"I've really been focused on improving my lateral movement, because college coaches are telling me that's where I need to improve," Hooker said.

He is looking forward to his junior campaign.

"I'm ready for my junior season," Hooker said. "I want to have more tackles, sacks and interceptions. We'll be a young team, but we want to win the conference and try to make a run in the playoffs."
