Out-of-State Pursuit of Texas DBs

Texas has been a popular state during the past week for schools from across the country looking for defensive backs. Almost a dozen offers have arrived since Saturday for secondary prospects from out-of-state schools.

The Lone Star State is always a popular place for finding defensive backs. That goes for in-state and out-of-state programs.

While home-state schools get plenty of secondary talent right here in their back yards, there are players who go elsewhere to continue their careers. Two very recent examples are Beaumont Ozen five-star cornerback Tony Brown, who enrolled at Alabama at the semester, and Dallas South Oak Cliff 2015 safety Prentice McKinney, who will play up north come the fall of 2015 if his March 27 commitment to Notre Dame holds.

Eight different Texas defensive backs in the 2015 and 2016 classes have combined for 11 out-of-state offers since Saturday, including two Florida offers that went out this morning. Here's a recap of those 11 offers:

Jared Mayden, 2016 CB, Sachse -- Oklahoma

Bailey Phillips, 2016 CB, West Mesquite -- Tennessee

Jordan Tolbert, 2015 CB, Fort Bend Ridge Point -- Washington State

Jaylon Lane, 2015 CB, Nacogdoches -- Arkansas

Will Lockett, 2015 CB, Manvel -- Oregon State

Deontay Anderson, 2016 S, Manvel -- Washington State

Josh Butler, 2015 CB, West Mesquite -- Arkansas

Deontay Anderson, 2016 S, Manvel -- Virginia Tech
