Notre Dame Offer a Game Changer

Jordan Thompson thought he might be getting close to narrowing his list of schools down to a manageable list. Thursday's offer from Notre Dame changed those plans.

It was another big day for Cincinnati (Ohio) La Salle defensive lineman Jordan Thompson as he added an offer from Notre Dame to his growing list.

"Now I don't really have a list because offers keep coming in," said Thompson. But this is a big one and one of my top offers."

How did the 6-foot-3, 250-pound defensive standout learn about the interest the Irish had in him?

"Coach (Mike) Elston came to school yesterday and watched us workout," he continued. "He said they liked my film but he wanted to come in and see me in person. He said he was going to go back and talk with their defensive coordinator and that he would call Coach (Nate) Moore. Today, he called and I got offered."

What type of impression did the Irish defensive line coach leave Thompson with?

"I talked with him a little bit and that was the first time I had spoken with him in person," explained Thompson. "He seems like a cool cat and just a regular guy."

The offer means more to Thompson than just another school liking his football abilities.

"This offer shows Notre Dame has trust in me," he said. "They feel I can be a great asset to the team not just on the field, but also in academics and everything that Notre Dame has to offer."

When Will Thompson visit campus?

"I don't know right now," he said. "I have the trip to Duke tomorrow and wasn't planning any other trips for awhile. "Right now it's up in the air but I'm going to try and get there as soon as possible. So they will be in the next round of schools I check out."

After receiving his offer Thompson caught up with his father to share the news. What was his reaction to his latest offer?

"I talked with my dad when he got home from work today," he said. "He said he was extremely happy for me."
