DFW Weekly Recruiting Notebook

The week of April 21-27 was the most active yet on the recruiting trail this spring in the DFW Metroplex. Scout.com recaps all of the action right here.

Two commitments and one decommitment highlighted a very busy week across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, which was also home to at least 43 new offers.

The first big news of the week came this past Wednesday when DeSoto 2015 defensive tackle Bryce English announced via Twitter that he decommitted from Texas.

That caught the attention of other college programs as he picked up an Iowa offer later that day and an Arizona State offer Friday.

Celina 2015 receiver Cash Conder provided the week's first of two commitments Wednesday when he informed Scout.com of his Western Michigan pledge. Conder visited Western Michigan the previous weekend and came away very impressed with WMU head coach P.J. Fleck.

Aledo 2015 running back Jess Anders became DFW's second commitment Saturday when he pledged to the Roadrunners at their spring game, according to InsideRunnerSports.com. Anders gained more than 2,000 yards from scrimmage and scored 40 total touchdowns in 2013 for state champion Aledo.

Miami, Wisconsin, Arizona State, and SMU were among the most active schools in the Metroplex this past week. There were almost four dozen offers in the greater DFW region since Monday (April 21), so let's recap them right here:

Ryan Wegmann, 2015 DE, Wichita Falls Rider -- sneaking in a player from west of the Metroplex, the 6-foot-3, 255-pound lineman got his first two offers Monday from Colorado State and North Texas.

Josh Butler, 2015 CB, West Mesquite -- two offers arrived for Butler, whose offer list is well into the teens. Mississippi State offered him Monday, then SMU offered him Friday.

DaMarkus Lodge, 2015 WR, Cedar Hill -- Scout.com's five-star prospect and No. 1 receiver in the state got a Tennessee offer from Monday.

Darrion Daniels, 2015 DT, Dallas Bishop Dunne -- the big four-star interior defender now has at least 20 offers thanks to his pair from this past week, which were Miami on Tuesday and Wisconsin on Wednesday. Miami offered seven targets in DFW, while Wisconsin offered six players this past week to push the Badgers' statewide offer total to 12 from April 11-24.

Adrian Miller, 2015 WR, Dallas Bishop Dunne -- Miller's offer list has reached double digits thanks to Tuesday's Miami offer and Saturday's Arizona State offer.

DeAndre McNeal, 2015 ATH, Mesquite Poteet -- the versatile McNeal, who we project as a receiver, also got Miami and Wisconsin offers Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

Keaton Sutherland, 2015 OT, Flower Mound Marcus -- the four-star offensive tackle picked up a Miami offer Tuesday, according to Marcus head coach Gerry Stanford, then a Michigan offer Wednesday.

Myron Gailliard, 2015 WR, Mansfield Timberview -- Gailliard also got his first offer Tuesday, when he heard from SMU.

Marvin Terry, 2016 DE/LB, Dallas South Oak Cliff -- SMU on Tuesday and Wisconsin on Wednesday put the pass-rushing terror at four along with Colorado State and Texas Tech.

Greg Little, 2016 OT, Allen -- Notre Dame offered the 6-foot-6, 285-pound Little on Tuesday. Little is already rated as a five-star prospect by Scout.com.

Aca'cedric Ware, 2015 RB, Cedar Hill -- Arizona State, which has been very busy lately in Texas, offered Ware on Tuesday.

Kevin Thomas, 2015 WR, DeSoto -- Tuesday brought Thomas an offer from SMU, which joins Clemson and Indiana on his offer list.

Anthony Hines, 2017 LB, Plano East -- the early Mississippi State commit now has about 20 offers with the latest coming Thursday from Nebraska.

Ryan Peschka, 2015 OG, Mansfield Timberview -- Peschka, who could likely play any spot guard to guard along the offensive interior, got the area's other service academy offer Thursday from Air Force.

Chason Virgil, 2015 QB, West Mesquite -- the athletic gunslinger continues to rack up offers. Florida offered Virgil on Thursday, then SMU offered Saturday.

Akilian Butler, 2015 WR, West Mesquite -- in addition to Virgil, SMU offered West Mesquite teammate Butler, who recently committed to Boise State.

Madison Akamnonu, 2015 OT, Arlington Bowie -- one of the state's hottest recruits got an Ole Miss offer Friday. Akamnonu's list has grown from three schools to 14 since the beginning of March.
