Offers coming in for Karafa

ASHBURN, Va. -- Until recently, Tanner Karafa had flown under the recruiting radar. Now, the 2015 Stone Bridge outsides linebacker has multiple scholarship offers.

Tanner Karafa's recruitment is heating up.

"I have offers from UVa, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Charlotte, ODU and JMU," said Tanner Karafa. "I've also been talking to Penn State, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, UNC and Duke."

Boston College was he most recent offer.

"It's awesome," said the 6-foot-3, 240-pound Karafa. "I definitely need to go up there and visit, so I can learn more about them. I've only heard good things about Boston College.

"I'm developing a good relationship with (tight ends) coach (Frank) Leonard. He's a nice guy. And he's funny and approachable. He's also honest."

Along with his trip to Boston College, Karafa mentioned possible summer visits to Virginia and Virginia Tech

Karafa has a timeline for his recruitment.

"Pretty much after baseball season, I'm going to start narrowing my list," he said. "I definitely want to make a decision before the season starts. I want to be able to focus on football."

What will factor into his decision?

"It's going to be a combination of academics and distance," Karafa said. "I'd like to stay close to home, but if the school I like is further away, I'll go. My general feeling for the staff and the program will also be important."
