The 6-foot-3, 215-pound quarterback, who was in attendance for the Roadrunners' spring game on Saturday, was happy when he received news of the offer.
"It was Coach [Kevin] Brown, their quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator, who offered me," he said.
Banks has been on UTSA's radar since he put up a strong performance at the underclassmen camp last July; he was also in attendance for the Roadrunners' Junior Day earlier this year.
Now, with number one behind him, Banks is looking forward to the remaining weeks of the evaluation period and is confident that more offers could soon arrive.
"A lot of coaches have been coming by these days. Rice, Houston, Oklahoma State, Harvard, Bowling Green, Colorado, and a few others will be coming by. A lot of schools show up without notice, so that's always a good thing. Texas State and Colorado were both out there with UTSA on Tuesday.
"I'm pumped for the offers to start rolling in," he said.
This Sunday, Banks has another opportunity to show off his skills as he will be competing against some of the region's best at the Dallas Elite 11, held at AT&T Stadium.
