Interest picking up for Samuel

Long Beach Poly (Calif.) defensive back Colin Samuel has made a smooth transition to his new school and recently landed his 4th scholarship offer.

Colin Samuel played his junior season at Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany but transferred to Poly in March.

"Everything is going great here," Samuel said. "Everyone has been friendly with me and I'm getting along real well with the guys on the team already. I like the coaching staff and I'm real comfortable here so it has been a good fit for me."

On the recruiting front, Samuel had early offers from Colorado State, Fresno State and San Diego State and landed one from Boston College this week.

"I'm very excited about that offer, Boston College is a good program," Samuel said. "We've had a ton of schools come by Poly so hopefully a few more offers will come in. UCLA, Texas Tech, California, Arizona State, Colorado, San Diego State, Tennessee, Utah, Nevada and a few others have come by so far."

Samuel took in Spring Games at USC and UCLA in the last two weeks and said he has a lot of interest in both local programs.

"USC was a two weeks ago and I had a great time," Samuel said. "I love that coaching staff and along with Boston College, they're recruiting me harder than everyone. They want me to come to their summer camp and if I do well, I could get an offer.

"UCLA was cool too, I got to meet all the coaches and the team looked really good. They want me to camp with them too and they all seemed really anxious to see more of me this summer. I'm going to camp with them too and I'll do the Washington camp as well.

"They have a camp out here in Thousand Oaks and I'll do that one. I want to visit Fresno State too and I'll take an official visit to Boston College later on. That's about all I have planned right now."
