Smith Having Good Spring

Upland (Calif.) tight end Hasani Smith (6-6, 242) has stood out at several events this spring.

Smith did well at the Los Angeles NFTC, the Pylon Elite 7v7 and then last month's Passing Down Best of the West.

"I feel like I've done well this spring," said Smith. "I could show my agility and how I'm working out. In spring ball, I've been working on my footwork and speed. It's good going against the DBs too."

Smith is still trying to drop a little more weight in the offseason.

"I want to get to 235 and lose a few more pounds," said Smith.

On the recruiting front, Smith thinks an in-state school could be close to offering.

"San Jose State really likes me and I think they could be close," said Smith.

A number of other schools are in consistent contact with him.

"I'm hearing the most from Washington and USC, I get letters from each every day," said Smith. "I'm also getting some from Arizona State, Arizona, Northwestern, Washington State, Colorado and Colorado State."

Smith plans to camp at Arizona, UCLA and USC this summer.
