On his way to Austin, Texas to participate in the State Track Meet, Missouri City (Tex.) Marshall running back Davon Crookshank has his primary focus on this.
"This is a big weekend ahead of us. It's going to be a tough task," Crookshank said.
He is referring to him and his team and the expectation to have a good showing this weekend. For the 5-foot-11, 195-pound Crookshank, he will be part of the 4x100 and 4x200-meter relay teams.
And while the football recruiting process has not had his undivided attention, that has not stopped coaches letting him know that he is a priority to them. He is now up to eight offers, with the most recent coming on Wednesday with Memphis and Colorado being extended.
"I have eight offers. Since I had the Baylor and Houston offers early on, Wisconsin, Indiana, Tulsa and Kansas have offered," Crookshank said.
He has yet to make any visits this off season. As stated, track has been his focus. And with this, it only adds to what college coaches have said they like about his overall game.
"The coaches say that I am a guy who has a lot of size and strength. They also like that I am able to turn a corner, even against fast defenders," Crookshank said.
Last season Crookshank ran for 1,095 and 18 touchdowns.
