Freshman picks up first two

Brian Edwards is just wrapping up his freshman year at Miramar (Fla.). Two big schools offered the 2017 defensive back this week.

Louisville was the first to offer Brian Edwards and Miami quickly followed. The 2017 defensive back was very excited to get his recruitment started, especially with an offer from a school like Louisville.

"It felt really good because of all the hard work I've put in, so it just felt really good to have the offer come in," Edwards said.

"It's a really good program, I did some research on it and I really liked it. I saw some players that were drafted to the NFL (this week), so it's really amazing."

The Miami offer was a big one for the 6-foot-2, 180-pound athlete. He's been a fan of The U for most of his life.

"It meant a lot because, playing since the age of five, I really wanted to go to Miami. I've been looking to go to Miami since that age, so it's really amazing," he said.

"It's just a family. It's a really good school, hometown school, and they just bring it to any opponent that they play."

Edwards hasn't ever been to the Miami campus, so that visit is at the top of his list. In the future, he hopes to hear more from Florida State and Florida. Things are just getting going for this freshman and he knows he has a lot to offer to a program at the next level.

"What I do best is playing good coverage, hitting well, and just being a leader," he said.

"A lot of coaches tell me they like my coverage and they say I'm a leader."
