With all spring games in the books, things are starting to work themselves out on the recruiting trail. It's time to start looking more intently on Oklahoma's "wish list" for the Class of 2015.
SoonersIllustrated.com is going to examine the recruiting situation for the Sooners at every single position in the next week.
Here is an idea of where OU stands heading into May. The number in parentheses indicates the number of recruits OU is looking to sign at the position for the Class of 2015. The names in no way reflect OU's official board but are the best guesstimate of who OU is targeting.
Committed (1): Jenks (Okla.) High's Marquise Overton. A lifelong OU fan, it was just a matter of when OU was going to make the offer. Understanding there are limited amount of spots for OU at this position, Overton waited less than two months after the offer to go ahead and decide to commit. Everything has been pretty smooth ever since the pledge.
Favorite: None. But don't panic as there are plenty of options.
Next in line: Concord (Calif.) De La Salle's Kahlil McKenzie. The newest five-star prospect, McKenzie recently said OU is among his five favorites. This is going to be one heck of a battle for the Sooners against schools with natural links to McKenzie such as Tennessee and Wisconsin. But defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery has put in a lot of work to make this happen and his unofficial visit for junior day could not have gone any better.
Cypress (Texas) Falls' Du'Vonta Lampkin. Where to begin with this one? Is he a defensive tackle or defensive end? Is he still on OU's board? A one-time OU commit, Lampkin decommitted two weeks ago although he has been consistent to say the Sooners are still his No. 1 choice as of right now. Montgomery will no doubt check back in with Lampkin this spring, which should answer some of these lingering questions.
Dallas Bishop Dunne's Darrion Daniels. It has been a while since there has been some notable news with Daniels and the Sooners. OU was among his first offers, and he has already seen the campus. The offers have started to pile up in a hurry for Daniels so it's obviously crucial to get him back to Norman sometime soon.
Richmond (Texas) Ranch's Kingsley Keke. Another prospect where no reason for OU fans to feel down in the dumps right now. It feels like Texas might have the slight edge here, but the Sooners are still real players in his recruitment.
On the radar: Manassas (Va.) Stonewall Jackson's Tim Settle. OU was able to get an unofficial visit on his spring break so that's something. How much of an impact is certainly under question when it was revealed OU was No. 15 in a list of his top 15 schools last week.
Honolulu (Hawaii) Farrington's Breiden Fehoko. Committed to Texas Tech, Fehoko has talked of still visiting OU. With the family connection with the Red Raiders, though, going to be one tough cookie to crack.
