Houston Recruiting Notebook (5/14/14)

Scout.com has had lots of activity in the Midlands region. Today, we look at a few recruiting notes from the Greater Houston area.

Missouri City Commitments
As stated many times, it was only a matter of when with Ridge Point cornerback Jordan Tolbert. The once Houston commitment decided recently to take his talents to Baylor. All along and through many of the Scout.com updates, Tolbert said that Baylor was recruiting him the hardest and on some level that program was his favorite. Just up the street at a neighboring school, athlete Jonathan Giles from Elkins made his commitment as well this weekend. Giles called for Texas Tech, stating that it was his "dream school" and that he wanted to be part of "something special."

More for Moore…
It has been Louisiana Tech for a long time as the lone offer for North Shore offensive lineman Tyler Moore. But as spring ball is in full gear, Moore has seen two more offers come in just this week. Coaches at North Texas and Minnesota have both let him know they want to add him to the roster. And both equally intrigue him as well. With the UNT offer, Moore told National Recruiting Manager (Midlands) Greg Powers that there are members of the Moore family in Denton.

But with Minnesota, he had a different take.

"I've always liked Big Ten football," Moore said to Powers. "And they are a good winning team and definitely have my attention."

He now holds three offers, but keep an eye on this one as he could add more here soon.

Packaged Offers for JV Teammates
One plays linebacker and the other plays safety. And both are on the defensive side of the ball and talented. Apparently, several college coaches think so as well. From Jersey Village linebacker Jordon Williams and safety Christian Taylor have gained lots of interest during the recruiting process. And with their two latest offers, both have come at the same time. Last week, Texas State offered the two of them and on Tuesday, Louisville offered them as well. Who's next…?

Offers Pouring In…
From Foster, defender Andrew Martel has been getting some looks. This week, Navy extended an offer to join his Air Force offer.

Add another offer to the list of Alief Taylor safety Kenneth McGruder as Nebraska offered earlier this week.
Oregon (most recent), Maryland and Purdue are the three latest offers form defensive back James Locke (PJ) from Beaumont Central.

Spring defensive back Willie Sykes landed an offer from Minnesota on Tuesday night. He now has three.
