Gerald Excited by New Offer

Class of 2016 offensive lineman Tyler Gerald talks about his offer from Virginia Tech.

Hidden away in Southeast Ohio is Class of 2016 offensive lineman Tyler Gerald. Until recently, very few people outside of the northern banks of the Ohio River knew much about Gerald. That is quickly changing as Gerald adds a major scholarship offer to his growing list.

Wednesday was a big day for Portsmouth (Ohio) Sciotoville High School sophomore Gerald as he received his biggest offer to date.

While Gerald already held an offer from Kent State and picked one up this week from Toledo, a visit from Virginia Tech offensive line coach Stacy Searels became an even bigger deal.

"I visited Virginia Tech for their spring game and had a great time," said Gerald. "Coach Searels came to school and watched me work out and I knew if I performed well when he watched me lift and things, there was a chance of an offer.

"So I knew if I was impressed with how hard I was working, there was no way he wasn't going to notice it. So I was busting it and I think it worked out good because when we finished doing our agility, Coach Searels told my coach they were offering me."

How does it feel to add his biggest offer to date?

"It's pretty exciting and pretty flattering to be offered by Virginia Tech," he said.

Scout.com feels this is just one of many big offers to come for the 6-foot-5, 295-pound lineman and will continue to follow the latest news surrounding his recruitment.
