Cote close to new offer?

Gilbert (Ariz.) Williams Field offensive tackle Cade Cote could be close to a new Pac-12 offer.

Williams Field offensive tackle has seen a number of schools check on him recently. The three-star prospect said that Oregon State, Boise State, Nevada and Oregon have stopped by to see him.

"It's been awesome," Cote said. "It seems like everyday a new coach comes by that's pulled me across to talk to me. It's been a great experience."

The Ducks have been by twice. Offensive line coach Steve Greatwood stopped in and introduced himself to Cote in person on Tuesday. On Wednesday, offensive coordinator Scott Frost talked with Cote and gave him some encouraging news.

"Coach Frost talked to me and said that him and Coach Greatwood would go back to talk to the head coach at Oregon at the next recruiting meeting and said I could possibly have an offer from Oregon by the end of May, which is exciting," Cote said.

In talking further with Frost, Cote learned what both coaches liked about his game.

"Coach Frost said that Coach Greatwood said he thought I did a lot of good things and I think Coach Frost said I'm explosive and powerful," Cote said. "He even had me dunk a basketball to prove my explosiveness."

With spring ball about to end for Cote he's preparing for the transition to summer. He has a visit scheduled to Colorado on June 1, and said he may trip to Oregon sometime after that.
