Virginia Tech commit scores Irish offer

Virginia Tech commit four-star cornerback Mook Reynolds of Greensboro (N.C.) Northern Guilford talks about how solid e is to the Hokies and what has piqued his interest about the Irish

Notre Dame is aiming to take two cornerbacks in the class of 2015, and one of the most recent cornerback prospects to nab an Irish offer is Greensboro (N.C.) Northern Guilford four-star standout Mook Reynolds.

"Coach (Mike) Elston came by school the other day, and he basically told me to expect an offer," Reynolds said. "I talked to him later that day, and I was offered. He likes that I'm a big, physical corner that has a versatile style of play. Once he sized me up in person, he liked what he saw."

The 6-foot, 175-pound corner committed to Virginia Tech in February.

"I'm 100 percent committed right now, but I'm going to continue to take other visits," Reynolds said. "I know I'm visiting Tennessee this summer and possibly Georgia."

Reynolds said a visit to Notre Dame is also a possibility.

"Hopefully, I can see Notre Dame sometime this summer, too," Reynolds said. "Before I really say if I'm interested, I would have to see it in person and check it out. I know that Notre Dame would set me up for outside of football. It would give me the stability to be able to provide in my future."

Reynolds said that Notre Dame playing a heavy dose of ACC teams is something he finds appealing.

"Coach Elston said that they are going to be playing ACC teams in my backyard," Reynolds said. "He talked about Notre Dame's tradition and football history. He also talked about the salaries that Notre Dame football players make."

For Reynolds, if he chooses to look beyond Blacksburg, Va., he'll be looking at a variety of factors.

"Early playing time, a good place to be outside of football, a campus with a lot of energy and a place where I can grow academically and athletically is what I want," Reynolds said.
