Ball State First FBS for Kentucky TE

Ball State the first FBS level school to offer athletic Kentucky TE

It didn't take Ball State long to know that Louisville Doss TE Tyler Jefferson was worth extending an offer to.

"The Ball State Tight End Coach (Pat Dougherty) came down the other day and I worked out for him," Jefferson said. "He liked me and said he wanted another coach to see me. The next day, the Wide Out Coach (Keith Gaither) came and I worked out for him. He offered me on the spot."

At 6-6 215, Jefferson is a rangy athlete and a big target for QBs. He is also an effective basketball player, which also helps on the football field.

"We'll of course I'm tall, and for my size I run well," Jefferson said about his skillset. "I have good hands and a knack for the ball due to basketball. I work hard always."

Jefferson who also has an offer from Tennessee Martin and is being recruited by Kentucky, Louisville, Western Kentucky, Indiana, Eastern Michigan, Purdue and Eastern Kentucky, said it was love at first sight for the Cardinal coaches.

" (Coach Gaither) told me that he loved me and I would fit the offense perfect," Jefferson said.

With his first major offer under his belt, Jefferson now has his eyes set on a busy summer and possibly more offer.

"This summer will be working out, football camps and AAU basketball," Jefferson said.
