East Texas Weekly Recruiting Notebook

Scout recaps the dozen-plus FBS offers, as well as some FCS news, in this week's East Texas weekly notebook covering May 19-25.

Another week, another haul of offers for Nacogdoches 2016 four-star safety Brandon Jones.

The 6-foot, 190-pounder pulled in five new offers this past week, starting with a pair of Big Ten offers Monday from Penn State and Ohio State. Then came a Stanford offer Tuesday, followed by Wednesday offers from Tulsa and Mississippi State.

Jones now holds more than 20 offers.

Here's a recap of the other offers that went to East Texas prospects during the past week:

Javon Thomas, 2015 RB, Texarkana Texas High -- offered Tuesday by Tulsa. Louisiana-Monroe could also be close to offering the 6-foot-1, 195-pound Thomas, who holds additional offers from Navy, Rice, and Toledo.

Erik McCoy, 2015 OG, Lufkin -- offered Tuesday by Kansas. McCoy is up to six offers. Kansas is his second Big 12 offer, joining Oklahoma State.

Jarion Anderson, 2015 WR, Texarkana Texas High -- offered Tuesday by Tulsa, the first offer for the speedy 5-foot-9, 167-pounder. He also got an FCS offer from Central Arkansas on Thursday.

Jeff Gladney, 2015 ATH, New Boston -- offered Tuesday by Tulsa and North Texas, giving the 5-foot-10, 170-pound speedster six offers.

Colin Jeter, TE, Kilgore College -- the 6-foot-6 JUCO tight end picked up an offer from UTSA, his first, on Tuesday evening.

Keke Coutee, 2015 WR, Lufkin -- offered Wednesday by Tulsa, which joins offers from Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech.

Sam Miller, 2015 DE, Canton -- offered Thursday by Houston. Miller has picked up eight offers in the last few weeks.

FCS News

Dezmond Chumley, 2015 QB, Longview -- offered Wednesday by Central Arkansas, the first for Chumley.

Geovari McCollister, 2015 QB, Tyler John Tyler -- offered Wednesday by Central Arkansas, which is his first. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound McCollister committed to UCA the next day.

Chase Tate, 2015 WR, Gilmer -- offered Thursday by Central Arkansas, his first offer.

Isaac Warren, 2015 CB, Tyler John Tyler -- Warren, who has picked up four recent FCS offers, announced via Twitter on Saturday that he committed to Sam Houston State. It will be interesting to see if any FBS programs come calling for the 6-foot-1, 187-pound, physical cover man. If not, Sam Houston State will have itself a steal, similar to Henderson's Patrick Brown signing with SFA in 2013.
