Bright Adds SEC; In-State Offers
Pensacola (Fla.) Escambia High School quarterback/athlete Gerold Bright finished off the state of Florida's spring practice period with a flurry of scholarship offers. The 5-foot-10 and 175-pound received his first SEC offer and two in-state offers over the Memorial Day weekend. "Recruiting is going pretty well. I am very excited about the future. I have around eleven offers right now," Bright said. Tennessee, Florida International and South Florida all offered in consecutive days starting last Friday night. "It felt exciting, unbelievable, I still can't believe it. They like my change of direction and my acceleration. They have been recruiting me for a while and they finally made the offer," said Bright of his Tennessee offer and recruitment. FIU's offer followed on Saturday morning and then USF offered on Sunday night. "They offered me last night. USF pretty much said what all the scouts say. They love the film, I can play and they want to put the ball in my hands," said Bright of his communication with the Bulls. Buffalo, Ohio, Southern Miss, South Alabama and Jacksonville State have all offered since the beginning of May according to both Bright and Escambia head football coach Willie Spears. Charleston Southern, Louisiana-Lafayette, Troy and UAB have also offered Bright this off-season. This summer Bright plans to camp with several of the programs he has offers from. "We have a schedule but I am not sure of the (details) of the schedule. I know (we are going to) Louisiana-Lafayette, Tennessee, USF and I believe Troy is on the list. It is a big list," said Bright of his camp plans. Please check back with Scout.com for future updates on Gerold Bright.
