Two standing out for Sharp

Trai Sharp is one of the top running backs in North Carolina. The 2015 Carrboro playmaker spoke with Scout.com about the latest developments in his recruitment.

"I still have offers from Appalachian State, Duke, Illinois, James Madison, NC State, Purdue and Yale," said Trai Sharp. "But Wake Forest, Louisville and Indiana have been recruiting me harder lately."

His most recent visit was to a local school.

"I went to NC State for their spring game," said the 5-foot-10, 180-pound Sharp. "I thought it was great. My mom, who's usually working, actually got to come this time. She got to meet the coaching staff. I also got to meet some of the fans and they knew who I was, so that's always great.

"When we got there, we ate lunch. After that, I got to talk to (running backs) coach (Desmond) Kitchings. He told me I'd be a good fit in their offense and that I could make a significant impact really early."

What's next for the Sharp?

"I'm camping at Duke on June 7, Wake Forest on June 20 and N.C. State at some point," he said. "I'm also going to visit JMU, Illinois, Purdue and maybe ODU."

Two schools have made a strong impression on him.

"I'd definitely say Duke and NC State are standing out the most right now," Sharp said. "At Duke, I just really like the experience with coach (David) Cutcliffe – just the way he talks to you – and how he treats his players. I like that N.C. State was the first school to offer me. And coach (Dave) Doeren has a good offense and I know some players on the team."

He has a timeline for his recruitment.

"I'm going to narrow my list down sometime this summer and then make my decision shortly before the season," Sharp said.
