McBryde Getting Closer To A Decision

Richard McBryde talks about Big Cat weekend, gives his thoughts on the Tigers, his timetable for a decision and more.

Troy, Ala.--A frequent visitor to Auburn for games and unofficial trips, talented linebacker Richard McBryde was on the Plains for Big Cat Weekend and left with the Tigers a strong leader to land his commitment sometime before his senior season at Charles Henderson.

"It was a great visit," McBryde said. "I come up there a lot and I like the atmosphere and the environment. The coaching staff is fun to be around. Today was a great day. We just put football to the side and focused on having fun. They challenged us with new recruits we had never met. It was just a great day.

"I'm probably close," he added to making his decision. "It will probably be before my season starts. I'm pretty sure it might be earlier. Every time I'm around the coaches it gets closer and closer. Auburn is in the lead."

With Florida State and Alabama behind Auburn, the three-star defender that is being recruited to play either linebacker or star in Coach Ellis Johnson's scheme said the Tigers have a sizeable advantage at the moment.

"It's a big lead," McBryde said. "It's up there. They're up there because they are recruiting me the hardest.

"I feel like the defense is a good fit for me," he added. "I can blitz outside off the edge from the star position or they could put me in the box."
