At 6-3, 325, Jauntavius Johnson has had the Tigers as his favorite since getting an offer from Rodney Garner and company last year. Making his first trip to the Plains since last season's Iron Bowl, he said his Big Cat experience was a great one and just one of the reasons why Auburn is at the top.
"It was a great day at Big Cat," Johnson said. "The coaches pick out the best of who they want to come. It was a phenomenal day...I'm still looking around but this place feels like it's home.
Planning to make his decision sometime towards the end of the summer in July before his team begins preparations for the 2014 season, Johnson said he's got some specific things in mind. Those are things he sees right now in the Tigers.
"I'm looking for the place that feels like home," Johnson said. "It (Auburn) feels like home. Coach Garner is a great coach and a guy I want to get coached by. I just want to go out and give other coaches a chance to see their personalities too."
Still looking around as he continues to sort through his options, Johnson said he's hoping to get to Louisville with his next visit before attending a camp at Alabama on June 14th.
A player that has worked hard to shape his body in the last few years, Johnson said he got as big as 360 pounds after having shoulder surgery as a freshman. Now down to 325 he said he hopes to get down to 305 or even smaller when he gets to the next level.
