Waller talks Notre Dame offer

When Blake Barnett de-committed from Notre Dame Wednesday night, the Irish didn't waste much time offering another quarterback.

Anaheim (Calif.) Servite quarterback Travis Waller has patiently waited for two of the schools at the top of his board, Ohio State and Oregon, to decide if they wanted to offer. The Ducks are in a good spot with the aforementioned Barnett and while the Buckeyes are still an option, Notre Dame has moved way up the list.

"I talked to Coach Kelly this morning," Waller said. "He told me they were interested and were going to discuss as a staff, whether they would offer or not. A short time later, I talked to Coach Kelly again and he said they wanted to offer me a scholarship.

"I was very excited and I have a lot of interest in Notre Dame. It's a great program, great tradition and I'm definitely planning to go out there for a visit. I don't have a date yet but I'm shooting for later this month."

Waller is a very intriguing player and just scratching the surface of his immense talent. He's still new to the position and has some mechanical tweaks he can make with his release but the physical tools are all there.

At 6-3, 190 pounds, Waller has an athletic body and can run like a receiver. For being relatively inexperienced, he shows nice poise in the pocket with the ability to escape pressure but keep his eyes down field and make a throw or take off for positive yards.

He throws a nice deep ball with touch and his arm strength will continue to improve as he fills out and uses his whole body more and not just his arm.
