Clark: Notes from the road

Earlier this week, I spent some time in the Richmond area of Virginia. Below are some news and notes on some of the top prospects.

2015 five-star Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher's outside linebacker Ricky DeBerry said he's been in contact with Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas A&M, UCLA, Oklahoma, Clemson and Michigan State the most. He will narrow his list to eight in August. DeBerry stated North Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech will be three teams that make the cut. Right now, Ohio State, Clemson and Alabama all appear to be in good shape as well. He will visit the Crimson Tide next week.

2015 four-star Chester (Va.) Thomas Dale defensive tackle Darvin Taylor II will narrow his list to five in two to three weeks. Right now, I think the schools with the best chance to land him are Florida State, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Tennessee and Maryland.

2015 four-star Hopewell (Va.) defensive end Darrell Taylor is down to 10 schools. In no particular order, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Miami, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Michigan State and Ohio State are the schools he is still considering. I would give Virginia Tech the edge, with Tennessee and Florida close behind.

2015 four-star Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher's cornerback Garrett Taylor committed to Michigan in March. Despite his commitment, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee and Virginia Tech are still recruiting Taylor. However, he is 100 percent committed to Michigan.

2015 four-star Richmond (Va.) Benedictine defensive end Clelin Ferrell committed to Clemson on Wednesday. It was a huge pickup for Clemson, as they need defensive ends in this class and Ferrell is one of the country's best.
