Pitt Gets Its Quarterback

Hornibrook threw for 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns, guiding Malvern Prep to an 8-2 record last year, Co-Champs of the Inter-AC.

Pittsburgh head coach Paul Chryst received his biggest news of Saturday, as Malvern Prep (PA) QB Alex Hornibrook committed to the Panthers. Chryst had barely wrapped up his second prospect camp to the summer.

"Very excited and humbled to announce that I have committed to play football at the University of Pittsburgh,"

Hornibrook tweeted on Saturday afternoon.

His commitment is big for Pitt's depth at quarterback, arguably the biggest of any position in this class. Pitt lost out on LaSalle College Prep's Kyle Shurmur, who committed to Vanderbilt just a couple weeks ago. Shortly after that, Pitt offered Hornibrook, who had offers from Rutgers and UConn.

The Panthers have only three quarterbacks on scholarship this year, redshirt sophomore Chad Voytik, redshirt junior quarterback Trey Anderson, and incoming freshman Adam Bertke. Hornibrook will give them four by the time he gets here in 2015.

Stay tuned for more on Hornibrook's commitment to Pitt.
