Brendan Ferns is one of the top 2016 prospects in Ohio, and he has the offer list to back that up. The linebacker has taken several unofficial visits this spring.
Ferns, 6-foot-3, 225-pounds, can play either inside or outside at the next level. The St. Clairsville prospect added another top offer Saturday.
"I visited Oklahoma and they offered," Ferns stated. "This is a big offer to me. Oklahoma is a school that gives me a great opportunity in the field of petroleum engineering. I could get a degree there, which is the best program in the nation, then return home to work in that field."
"My family and I are very comfortable with Jerry Montgomery, and I loved the campus. On top of that, they win," he added. "I've been to Michigan with my brother playing there, and Oklahoma compares well in every way. Coach (Bob) Stoops has been there 16 years, and his record speaks for itself."
"They run a defense I could fit in well," he continued. "They are now running a 3-4, and they want me to play one of the inside spots. We went over their defense, and I could do well in it. I don't have a favorite at all, but I have to say Oklahoma will be in it for me until the end. I'm thinking about going back there after my football season ends."
Ferns is unsure about taking any more visits or attending any more camps this summer.
"I just want to take a week or so and step back from taking visits, because I've been gone a lot lately," Ferns admitted.
