Commitment Impact: QB Sheriron Jones

The Gators pulled off a whopper of a commitment on Sunday when Moreno Valley (Cal.) Rancho Verde quarterback Sheriron Jones committed to the University of Florida football program. Jones impact on the Gator recruiting class for 2015 should be felt in several different ways.

Sheriron Jones is a big time two-way threat at the quarterback position. At Florida's Will Muschamp Football Camp on Saturday, Jones displayed his arm strength and deep ball accuracy over and over again. He left coaches with blisters on their fingers from catching heated passes and he led the faster receivers well on the deep balls.

He also can run the ball very well. The 6-foot-2, 180 pound signal caller is a great fit for Florida's new offense where he will be asked to run the ball quite a bit in a zone read package in the running game. His athletic ability makes him a terrific fit exactly what offensive coordinator Kurt Roper likes to do.

But for the Gators and this 2015 class, The Opening invitee could also have a big impact off the field. Jones is popular among prospects and could help push other big time prospects the gators are recruiting into the fold.

Good character is always a bonus and we get that with Jones. He's a quality person that should represent the University of Florida in a big way.

Stay tuned as we dig in more about Jones and talk to him about his decision.
