U of L football: Recruiting notebook

Cardinal Authority has a few notebook items from the University of Louisville camps over the weekend, including some new offers and also a few prospects who made visits.


Winter Garden, Fla., West Orange cornerback Jalen Julius was among several prospects from Florida to camp at Louisville this weekend.

Julius, who is committed to Florida, and the River City Kings 7 on 7 team from Florida made the stop at U of L. He was one of four prospects to get an offer from U of L off the 7-on-7 team, according to the River City Kings coaches.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Julius picked Florida over Auburn, Ohio State, Tennessee, South Florida and Mississippi among others.

Others offered off the River Kings team were Miami commitment Dexter Williams, '16 running back Tyrek Tisdale and '16 wide receiver Eddie McDoom.

Williams is a 6-foot, 190-pound running back and is listed as the No. 108 player in the country by Scout.com and a teammate of Julius' at West Orange High School.

Scout recruiting analyst Jamie Newberg said of Williams that he is: "One of the most exciting offensive recruits in the state of Florida and the No. 16 ranked running back in the country.

Tisdale is a 6-foot, 195-pound running back in the Class of 2016 from Orlando, Fla., Evans. Tisdale's only other offer at this point comes from UAB but he is also hearing from Auburn and Florida State among others.

The 5-11, 170-pound McDoom also attends West Orange and is a top '16 wide receiver prospect. He landed his first offer last month from Clemson and has since picked up offers from Kentucky and Boston College. McDoom had 31 catches last season for 475 yards and four touchdowns.


Sicklerville, N.J., Timber Creek High School wide receiver Cameron Chambers, a prospect in the Class of 2016, earned an offer.

The 6-foot, 200-pound Chambers adds the U of L offer to a list that includes South Carolina, Arkansas, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers, Temple among several others.

As a sophomore, Chambers made 57 catches for 1,196 yards and 12 touchdowns at Timber Creek.


Fort Pierce, Fla., Central High School 2016 offensive lineman Stewart Reese attended camp with some teammates and landed an offer.

p>The 6-foot-6, 310-pound Reese also has offers from Miami, Florida, Stanford, Cincinnati, Michigan State and Central Florida among several other top programs.

Reese had been offered a scholarship in May by the U of L staff, who wanted to see him in action before confirming the offer.


U of L has now offered five members of the Class of 2016 from Manvel, Texas, after offering two more from the team after camp.

Defensive end Hasaun Glasgow said the U of L offer was his first after camp. He's a 6-foot-3, 210-pound strongside defensive end.

Running back D'Vaughn Pennamon also landed his first offer from the Cardinals. The 6-foot, 185-pound Pennamon carried 61 times for 350 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore.

U of L has also offered wide receiver Reggie Hemphill, cornerback Deontay Anderson and quarterback D'Eriq King.


The Cards are also recruiting Manvel, Tx, 2015 prospect William Lockett, who has the program among his top five schools.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Lockett has over a dozen offers including, U of L, UK, Indiana, Missouri, Michigan State, Washington, Maryland, Oregon State, Rutgers, Purdue, Tulsa, Louisiana Tech and Houston.

Lockett said last week that U of L would be in his top five along with Washington, Missouri, Michigan State and Maryland.
