More visits coming for DeBerry

RICHMOND, Va. -- Ricky DeBerry will continue his busy travel schedule this summer. The five-star St. Christopher's outside linebacker spoke with about his upcoming trips, recruitment and more.

After receiving over 70 scholarship offers, Ricky DeBerry is now down to 20 schools.

Next, the 6-foot-2, 240-pound prospect will cut his list to eight in May.

"North Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech are going to make the list," he said. "I'm definitely looking hard at Clemson and Ohio State, too. I like the defenses and people at those schools.

"Right now, I'm about 50-50 on whether I want to stay close to home or not. I want to go somewhere that my family can come see me on a regular basis. But at the end of the day, if going to place further from home is what's best for me, then I wouldn't mind doing that also."

Who has he had the most contact with recently?

"I would definitely say I've talked to coaches at Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas A&M, UCLA, Oklahoma, Clemson and Michigan State the most," he said.

He has a big visit coming up this weekend.

"I'm going to Alabama on Saturday," DeBerry said. "It will be my first time there and I can't wait.

"Alabama has been at the top of college football for the past couple years and being able to develop relationships with the coaches and getting to know them as people is great. I can't wait to get down there, see the facilities and talk face-to-face with coach (Nick) Saban."

Following his visit to Tuscaloosa, DeBerry plans to take trips to Tennessee, Clemson, Miami, Texas A&M, UCLA, Arizona State and Nebraska this summer.
