Costello Has Busy Camp Slate

The Santa Margarita (Calif.) 2016 four-star quarterback, K.J. Costello, is doing a number of camps this summer...

Santa Margarita (Calif.) 2016 four-star K.J. Costello (6-4.5, 206) was probably the top underclassmen quarterback at the Oregon NFTC and he threw with a lot of consistency and his best throws came in the 1-on-1's, especially when he was throwing to his 7v7 teammate Dylan Crawford.

As big as Costello is, he moves around very well and looked sharp with good spin on his throws during the quarterback drills.

Prior to the Oregon NFTC, Costello visited Oregon State and Oregon, getting an offer from the Beavers.

"I liked the facilities and was really impressed with the coaching staff at Oregon State," said Costello. "I had talked to Coach (John) Garrett before and he had seen me two weeks ago and liked what he saw so they planned a little unofficial visit for me and then offered."

He also checked out Oregon aside from their camp.

"We took a tour Saturday of Oregon and it was unreal," said Costello. "There are definitely no facilities that match up to theirs. It's just a different level. I have a lot of respect for Oregon and like them a lot."

The two local schools will have Costello on campus this month for camps.

"I have a good relationship with Coach (Clay) Helton at USC," said Costello. "They're trying to figure out the whole 2015 thing. They have Ricky Town committed but I think they want two. Coach Helton wanted me to come up (to camp) on the 14th and watch me work out. They watched me throw during the evaluation period and liked me and he wants me to do the same with Coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian)."

He'll camp at UCLA the next week.

"I've been talking to Coach Taylor (Mazzone) for almost a year," said Costello. "Obviously they're set for 2015 but they're looking around for 2016. We have a good relationship and we'll see where it goes. I'll be at their camp on the 23rd."

Costello is also hoping to get to Stanford this month.

"I did really well at their camp last year and we've been talking for a long time and getting to know each other on a personal level," said Costello. "They don't just go on anybody, they're very selective. They've offered and signed every quarterback like the last six years that they offered at their camp, so we're trying to get up there on the 17th."

Oregon State, Florida State, Tennessee, Cal, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Virginia and Boise State have all offered and Wake Forest could be offering soon.
