Dawgs Get Alley-Oop on Godwin

ATHENS – Georgia's football program just got an alley-oop pass from its women's basketball program.

Now it just needs to put the ball in the basket in the form of signing committed five-star Callaway ATH Terry Godwin. Andy Landers offered a scholarship and got a commitment from Godwin's older sister, Terryuana, today.

Terryuana Godwin has played two years at Butler Community College in Kansas. According to the pair's mother, Olivia, Georgia has sent Terryuana a letter of intent to sign with the Bulldogs, and Terryuana will enroll at Georgia in August and play this winter.

She will have three years to play two seasons. She will play point guard, according to her mother.

The move by Andy Lander's program appears to firm up where the football-playing Godwin will line up in college. He's been committed to the Bulldogs since the start of the year, but the family indicated that the siblings would love to be in college at the same place.

"It's any parents dream to have your kids at the same school," Olivia Godwin said. "Terry and Terryuana are very close -- all my kids AE close. We are a close-knit family. We were all smiles today at Georgia. It was a great day for the family."

But the Bulldogs will still have to recruit Terry Godwin, who visited Auburn and Alabama lately. Godwin is not able to sign a letter of intent to play with any football program until later this year. He intends to enroll early, according to the family.
