Saturday found several prospects who attended the Sound Mind Sound Body camp the previous two days at Michigan State hoping to grab the attention of the Michigan State coaching staff. It will be interesting to see if anyone comes away with an offer in the days, weeks or even months ahead.
Nathan Veloz – Oak Creek, WI (Oak Creek HS)
This was the first time I've seen the Wisconsin native and came away liking what he showed. While there is work needed to his frame (weight loss) he may have been the best in setting up in a good stance and keeping his balance while using his hands. The work didn't go unnoticed as Veloz held no offers prior to camp and left with offers from Buffalo and Western Michigan.
Zach Bycznski – Berea, Ohio (Berea HS)
Another first time watch was 2016 Berea, Ohio center/guard prospect Zach Bycznski. Glad we got a chance to catch the young player as he has good physical size and showed above average technique during one-on-one drills.
Wesley French – St. Joseph, MI (St. Joseph HS)
There is no mistaking that French is going to be a Division One football player as he's got very good size and strength. We had a chance to watch him during the three days of SMSB and the MSU camp and while he shows above average feet and technique, he at times has a tendency of grabbing and pulling defensive linemen down during one-on-one competition.
Matt Allen – Hinsdale, IL (Central HS)
Yes, another Allen brother who may not have the size wanted by college coaches but will continue the family tradition of fighting and scrapping for every inch. Another center or guard prospect, the Class of 2016 lineman held his own inside despite being on the lighter side in the 230-240-pound range.
