Barnett Commits to the Seminoles

Scout 300 Defensive End Michael Barnett has committed to Florida State

Dorchester (S.C.) Woodland defensive end Michael Barnett has committed to Florida State following an outstanding showing at the Jimbo Fisher Football Camp.

Barnett is a legitimate 6'4, 225+ and has the length and athleticism the Florida State staff covets at his position. "He will fit right in in Tallahassee," observes NoleDigest's Geoff Vogt, "I like him for sure." Barnett has the frame to carry at least 250 pounds without losing explosiveness.

"Barnett is still new to the defensive side of the ball," notes's Chad Simmons. "He started off as an offensive tackle in high school, so he still has a lot to learn. He has very good size, a frame to add weight to, and he will end up as a strong-side end on the next level. He has good balance, he flashes good strength in contact, and he can chase the football. He is best at getting up the field pressuring the quarterback."

Barnett is a possible early enrollee, which makes him even more attractive to the Seminole staff, as they're looking at another full class in 2015.
