Incoming Irish: Nyles Morgan

Irisheyes caught up with incoming Irish linebacker Nyles Morgan before he stepped foot on campus last week.

Notre Dame's highest rated recruit by in the 2014 class is five-star middle linebacker Nyles Morgan.

Notre Dame started its recruitment with Morgan with solid momentum, though the Irish dipped during last summer and season on Morgan's list of favorites. However, the Irish staff continued to make him a priority, and it paid off.

Morgan committed to Notre Dame in January over Florida, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt.

"This offseason has been going really well," Morgan said. "I've just been focused on staying in shape and improving upon myself and my game. I'm always trying to get stronger."

"I'm at 238 (pounds) right now, and I feel like that's a good starting point for my career at Notre Dame," Morgan said. "Whatever the coaches tell me I trust."

Morgan visited Notre Dame multiple times throughout his recruitment.

"It's always great to be on campus at Notre Dame," Morgan said. "I was there recently because I went with my cousin to watch a high school basketball game near there and I was able to drop by. It just makes me excited for when I get to be there full-time."

"I really enjoy all the coaches and players at Notre dame," Morgan said. "That's a big reason why it's such a great place. We all want to work hard and learn."

Morgan will room with tight end Nic Weishar, who also hails from Illinois, this summer. He chose Florida State and Michigan as the two 2014 games he has circled on his calendar with most anticipation.

Morgan set foot on campus as a five-star prospect and ranked as the No. 3 middle linebacker in the class 0f 2015.
