Kevin Thomas from DeSoto (Texas) is holding some big-time offers, but he's still trying to get better this summer. The 6-foot-0 and 175-pound receiver went to a camp and took a visit this year already. He would like to take some others before the summer ends.
"I have just been working out trying to perfect my craft," Thomas said. "I went to the Oklahoma State camp, but I don't have anymore plans. I took a trip to Clemson over spring break and I am trying to get out to see all of my top six before the summer ends."
Nebraska is being named to a lot of top players lists heading into the heart of the summer. Thomas has them on his and he says that on this trips to his stop schools he wants to get a feel for the staff, wants to see how comfortable he is there and wants to see how he fits in their offense.
"My top six are Clemson, Kansas, Indiana, Nebraska, Wisconsin and San Diego State in no particular order. I am really looking at how the coaching treat me and act towards their team. I want to see how I feel there away from home and their offense."
Thomas got a little heads up about Nebraska from his quarterback, Tristen Wallace. Wallace was in Lincoln last week for an unofficial visit. The 2016 recruit told Thomas that if he visited Nebraska that he knew Thomas would like it.
"Tristen told me he liked the visit to Nebraska a lot," Thomas said. "He said that the offensive staff was real nice, cool dude and he said that if I took a visit there that he knew that I would like it."
The Nebraska charge for Thomas has been led by the receivers position coach Rich Fisher. Thomas says that he's really liked the Huskers' approach with him and that he thinks Nebraska likes him more as an X in their offense.
"Coach Rich Fisher has been the coach recruiting me from Nebraska. He's been real straight up with me. I think that likes me more as an outside guy in their offense, but I've played slot mainly in high school."
Thomas caught 60 passes for 822 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior in 2013, helping DeSoto to consecutive state semifinal appearances.
