6-foot-1, 205-pound rising senior Jerome Baker has collected over 20 offers. On Friday night, the linebacker announced his top eight schools.
Florida: "When I visited, the whole university, just everything about it fits who I am. It's laid back, handle your business and have fun while you do it. It fits me."
Florida State: "I haven't visited yet, but they just won the championship, so they definitely know what it takes to win. That was a big thing when it came to making my choices. They came by my school and the coaching staff was very welcoming."
Miami (Fla.): "I haven't visited yet, but the same with their coaching staff, they're very welcoming. I have a great time talking to them. We talk about everything from basketball to football and life. I have a great relationship with them."
Michigan State: "Their defense is what really got me. They play linebackers. Their linebackers and the defense as a whole fly around and have fun. That's a major, major part. When I visited the Spring game, it was a beautiful place."
Notre Dame: "They're the complete package, they have everything. Academics, athletics, they have it all. I planned on going this weekend but something camp up. Their coaching is top-notch. It's a great fit. I was hoping to see it this weekend, but just couldn't make it."
Ohio State: "The home team. They're not far from home. My family goes there, my friends go there. It's just home. Coaching staff is very welcoming and they act just like family. They're probably the school I talk to the most."
Penn State: "They're another school I grew up rooting for, so they were pretty much up there before most of the others. They're definitely on the rise, you can see that with recruiting. The new coaches are very exciting. I enjoy watching. They handle themselves very well. The players I talk to that are committed there are fired up."
Tennessee: "They were my first SEC visit. Everything was amazing. From the practice facilities, the coaches, the people there, the players; it was different. Even the weather was different."
With schools all over the map, Baker says he's not afraid to travel.
"Distance will not be a factor in my decision," he said.
The linebacker says that while other schools can still contact him, he's pretty firm on those eight.
"I'm open to talking to other schools, but it would be pretty, pretty hard for another school to come in. The list is only going to shrink," said Baker
Next up for Baker will be Ohio State'S Friday Night Lights camp in July.
The rising senior does not have a timetable for his decision, but says he might possibly shrink the list further down before the season.
