"It's a Great Day to be a Devil"

ASU lands second in-state OL today, adding Gilbert High's Steve Miller

Gilbert High offensive tackle Steve Miller made a tour of West Coast schools and came back with a final two of Arizona State and Washington. He said in a recent interview that he would be deciding near the 4th of July. Well for Arizona State fans, the celebration came early as Miller announced on Twitter that he pledged to the Sun Devils today.

He says, "I am officially committing to Arizona State University! #forksup #stayedtrue."

Miller adds, "It was really close between ASU and Washington but the hometown factor just put ASU over the top."

Miller (6-4 295) picked ASU over offers from Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Boise State, Washington, San Diego State and BYU.

ASU offensive line coach, Chris Thomsen, had to be happy as he landed his second big in-state offensive line commitment of the day as three-star OL Cade Cote from Williams Field announced his commitment to ASU on Monday morning. Miller comments, "He was very excited when I committed. I can't wait to work with him. It is a great day to be a Devil."

And he will work with Thomsen a semester earlier then most recruits as he plans to graduate from Gilbert early and enroll at ASU in December.

Miller, a three-star OT, has made tremendous strides as a football player in the last year. He played sparingly until his junior season and is raw on his junior film. But improved a lot during Spring practices and throughout the summer. Miller is massive but has good feet for a big guy. He shows the ability to finish, has a big frame, and good strength. Miller could play either guard or tackle in college and I believe he has a high ceiling with his best football in front of him.
