Bright On USF Camp; Early Favorites
Pensacola (Fla.) Escambia High School running back/cornerback Gerold Bright finished off last May's spring practice period with scholarship offers from Tennessee, South Florida and Florida International in the three consecutive days following his spring game. The 5-foot-10 and 175-pound rising senior, who has since received an offer from Georgia Southern, attended USF's satellite camp in Panama City, Florida last week. Bright says that four schools standout among the offers he currently holds. "FIU and Georgia Southern have offered," said Bright when asked if he had received any new offers since Tennessee and USF came to the table. Last week Bright camped with USF to learn more about the coaching staff as well to show off his ability to the Bulls coaches. "It went pretty well. I watched the coaches' personalities, especially my position coach (USF wide receivers coach Ron Dugans) and I liked his personality and the way he teaches and breaks down the drills. It (going to camp) lets the coaches see if I can do the things that made them want to offer me. It gave me time to interact with coaches. I believe they really like me at cornerback but my passion is to play offense, running back or slot receiver but anywhere you need me I am willing to play," said Bright of his Bulls camp experience. Bright says that out of his more than a dozen offers, he considers four to be his favorites at this juncture. "Right now I would put Tennessee, Louisiana-Lafayette, USF and Georgia Southern at the top. I am going to go to Tennessee on the 18th of next month," answered Bright when asked if he has a group of favorites. Buffalo, Charleston Southern, Jacksonville State, Ohio, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy and UAB have also already offered Bright.
